چکیده
A dam is one of the water structures that have many benefits for humans. However, flood disasters caused by break may a very bad impact on human life. This study specifically analyzed flooding failure Karalloe in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. For first time, selected discharge used analysis was verified using Creager graph comparing calculated from several synthetic unit hydrograph methods (HSS) with measured automatic level recorder (AWLR) at monitoring point. The due to simulated HEC-RAS 2D combined ArcGIS mapping. calculation results design based rainfall data HSS Nakayasu, ITB I, II, and SCS (HEC-HMS) as well designed showed value which closest Q1000 method. values obtained method Tr (return period) 2 years, 5 10 20 25 50 100 1000 years were 322.70 m3/s, 464.10 560.40 658.40 682.70 787.00 885.70 1202.60 respectively. simulation 22 villages will be affected fastest standby time 12 minutes, namely Lookout Point 7 Paitana Village. result suggests early warning system should installed downstream disaster mitigation adopted applied these threatened area.

A Dam Break Analysis Using HEC-RAS
This paper firstly described the dam break in the aspects of theories and models. Break parameters prediction, the understanding of dam break mechanics, peak outflow prediction were shown as the essential for the dam break analysis, and eventually determined the loss of the damages. Secondly, as an application example, Foster Joseph Sayers Dam break was further modeled and analyzed using USACE ...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of flood wave propagation due to failure of dam watersheds in fluent model
By numerical simulation of the phenomenon of failure of dams and the flow of their flow, it is possible to design more precisely the structures and their location. The purpose of this study was to investigate the wave propagation phenomenon due to the failure of the rocky mortar-watering dam in the Marivan sub-basin of Zarivar in two-dimensional and three-dimensional models using the Fluent mod...
متن کاملFlood hazard zoning using geographic information system (GIS) and HEC-RAS model (Case study: Rasht City)
Rivers are important water resources for human life, but sometimes cause irreparable damages. The flood plains are fertile terrains which are endangered by flood. Flood hazard mapping is one of the basic methods in flood fighting. In order to decline flood damages, the simulation of the hydraulic behavior of the rivers during flood occurrence is very important. In this study, areas that are flo...
متن کاملInvestigating the vulnerability downstream area of Taleghan dam due to dam failure
Due to the immense damage caused by dam failure, especially dams constructed near large cities, it is necessary to consider the breaking phenomena as well as studying and designing different parts of the dam. For this purpose, the hydrograph of the outflow due to dam failure must be identified according to size of the fracture and then flood routing, and flood zone must be determined based on t...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effect of Rainfall Spatial Distribution on Flood in Bakhtiari Dam Basin Using HEC-HMS
The disparate spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall in the country and climate variation sometimes leads to rivers flooding and large flood events, which are remarkable for life and financial losses. Flood control design requires accurate knowledge of the flood generator basin, especially smaller ones, in large basins. Determining the potential of flood generation to specify the...
